Driving to camp
The beautiful city of Charlottesville, Virginia is approximately one hour west of Richmond, Virginia on Interstate 64, two hours southwest from Washington, DC and three and a half hours north of Raleigh and Durham, North Carolina.
Campers driving themselves and staying in the dorms will need to purchase a parking permit to park on grounds. The University permit will be an additional $18. Campers will not be allowed to use their vehicle during their stay. They will be required to turn in their keys to the dorm supervisor. Campers failing to follow this procedure will be dismissed from the Academy without a refund. I If you plan to drive yourself to camp, please notify the camp staff by July 1, 2007.
Commuting campers and for participants attending the day clinics, parking will be available at the parking garage located on Emmett Street adjacent to Memorial Gymnasium. The hourly rate is $2 per hour and cash will be needed to park for every session. Fees are collected on weekends.
Please be aware that parking spaces around University of Virginia are limited and closely monitored by the Parking and Transportation division. They will ticket all vehicles that do not have the required parking passes or pay the appropriate fees.
If you are flying to Charlottesville
Flights can be made to the Charlottesville/Albemarle Regional Airport. Delta, US Airways and United are the Major carriers that service our airport. The Academy staff will be happy to provide you with Roundtrip Shuttle Service for an additional $15. Please contact the Academy staff with your flight information to schedule a pickup.
Additional airports are within driving distance of Charlottesville, however, shuttle service is not available for these airports. Washington-Dulles airport and the Richmond International Airport are within a two hour drive of the Charlottesville area.

Memorial Gym
The newly renovated Memorial Gymnasium is Home of the University of Virginia Cavaliers Women's Volleyball team.
McCormick Road Housing
The McCormick Road Housing complex is used to house First-Year Students.
Newcomb Hall Dining Facility
The Dining facility for camp is within easy walking distance of the dorm and gymnasium.
For Camp
- » KEY DEPOSIT ($100 check made out to MAS Volleyball Academy)
- » Pillow, sheets and light blanket for twin bed
- » FAN (s) - dorm is NOT air-conditioned
- » Shower Shoes
- » Towels for showering
- » Toiletries
- » Umbrella to use when walking to dorm or cafeteria
- » One or two pairs of casual shorts and one or two casual shirts
- » Money for snacks and drinks in the camp store
- » Something to store your dorm room key (key chain)
- » Something to store your dorm access card and meal card (these are similiar to credit card or hotel room keys)
For Volleyball
- » Kneepads (two or three pair if you have them, they will get sweaty)
- » Athletic socks - enough for NINE sessions
- » Sports bras
- » T-shirts - enough for NINE sessions
- » Athletic shorts or Spandexs
- » Volleyball shoes (if you do not have volleyball shoes, your shoes must NOT leave marks on the gym floor. YOU WILL NOT BE ABLE TO PARTICIPATE IF YOU SHOES LEAVE MARKS!!!!)
- » Shoes to walk from the Dorm, Cafeteria and Gym
- » Bag to carry your volleyball "stuff" to and from the Gym
- » Plastic Water bottle (a Gatorade bottle will be provided at the beginning of camp, this can be used if you wish)
- » Hair Ties (elastic bands to put your hair up, it will be HOT)
